Brian - Oh my gosh I would be Honored!

Type away, I can't wait to read it.

I believe you're talking about our dishwashing fiasco the night before we left which lead to me "checking your blog" one more time at 4:30am just before we left.....THANK GOD!

As I set my alarm for 3:30 am, and making sure the house was all tidy before we left for our trip, I turned on the dishwasher and went to bed quite early. I checked my email  one last time before I went to bed thinking I would never get a chance to read it in the early morning.....I checked to find no"comment" from Brian on New York Daily Photo about us coming to New York tomorrow.  I mean what nerve of me to think you actually might comment back and say something!  Who did I think I was?

Sleep went by fast and I think I was awake when the alarm went off, and in the pitch dark I went out to the kitchen to make coffee. Walking in the kitchen I noticed that our back porch was lit up with the most beautifu light, almost like someone was shining something from above.  I looked out the door and saw the most spectacular, stunning Harvest moon I've ever seen, shining in full glory over our entire back yard.  I stood out there in my PJs at 3:30am in awe thinking "so this is what a fall harvest moon looks like, this is a sign that our trip will be full of wonderment".  I went back to the bedroom to tell Ryan he has got to get up now and come see the moon.

I went back in the kitchen, to make my must-have morning coffee and it hit me! I smelled this terrible burning smell, I noticed the dishwasher lights were still on from 7.5 hours before!   I opened the dishwasher door, to notice the heating element was still on!  A few platic items had started melting!  I closed the dishwasher door, and tried to turn it off to no avail, it would not turn off!  The heating element kept burning ultra hot!  I ran back, woke up Ryan....and this time demanded that he get up.  Half alseep he tried to pull out this built in dishwasher to see if he coudl unplug it so that heating element would be turned off!  Garage tools came out, he got down on the floor looking under the cabinets, ran down to the basement to look for hard wiring, and finally managed to pull the darn thing half way out of the cabinet and get it unwired.

If I had not smelled/seen that, I doubt that my "unattentive" husband or teenage daughter would have seen it!  It could have burned our house down while we were gone with our little doggies in it!  A beautiful Harvest Moon morning had turned into a rushed, unexpected emergency and was eating in to our getting-ready time.

Time was very scarce now...we had to hurry and get to the airport......I quickly had to write a note to the dog sitter now, telling her why the dishwasher was half into the kitchen.....I thought we would never make our flight.

We were almost ready to leave, and I literally had about 6 minutes to kill before our scheduled "out-of-driveway- time".....I thought to myself......I wonder if Brian might have seen my post about how we were coming to New York today, and commented back to me.  Oh don't be silly...he could care less that you are coming to his city! But maybe if I just check really quick, he might have said something.  I fired up my laptop, and went straight to New York Daily Photo.

5 Comments now!!  There were ony 4 last night when I checked!  I wondered if it was you who commented to me!  I clicked...scrolled down and read....."Sally ask for me if ur in the park".

CONFIRMATION!

Slam....goes the laptop lid....."OK, COME ON GUYS....NEW YORK HERE WE COME!  Lets get to the airport".

Ryan NEVER got to stand on the back porch and see the glorious Harvest Moon.  Only my eyes got to see it. I guess it will be my own private secret that only I was able to see!
